About Us
We'd Like to Welcome You Home
Home is more than just a structure and a location. Home is an ideal; it’s a feeling and a sense of connectedness for which we all long. But, For many people with disabilities in Philadelphia, “home” remains out of reach due to a lack of suitable housing opportunities.
Liberty Housing Development Corporation (LHDCorp) hopes to change that.
A not-for-profit Community Housing Development Organization developing affordable, accessible, integrated housing for people with disabilities and their families, LHDCorp firmly believes that all people with disabilities should have the right to make their own choices and to live independently. The housing units we work with property managers, landlords, and developers to create opportunities for people to do just that. You can learn more about our properties in the Properties section of our site.
Our Story
Liberty Resources, Inc., Philadelphia’s Center for Independent Living, created Liberty Housing Development Corporation as a separate 501(c)(3) not-for-profit for the sole purpose of developing accessible, affordable, integrated housing for persons with disabilities currently living in nursing homes. Established in April of 2007, LHDCorp has received funding to develop 29 one bedroom integrated apartments located in buildings that total 401 units. Now that’s true integration.
As an independent 501(c)(3) not-for-profit, LHDCorp has its own Board of Directors, none of whom serve on Liberty Resources, Inc.’s Board of Directors. You can learn more about our Board in the Our Team section of our website.
